NOVUS ( short for Novus Ordo Seclorum, aka the New Order of the Ages) is an independent experimental semi-documentary non narrative film showcasing the life and times of the mysterious and influential scientist Nikola Tesla. Novus was directed by the improvisational musical group known as VyZ whose slogan is 'improVyZed music for movies.' VyZ edited together NOVUS from old public domain animation footage including work from John Sutherland, Max Fleischer and Ray Harryhausen. It also features footage from various other sources such as Edison footage from the Library of Congress, imagery from the NASA space program and footage from the Prelinger Archives. NOVUS paints a picture of Tesla as a forgotten genius, a man whose work and ideas were taken from him and is now almost completely forgotten, even though his influence is everywhere. The documentary also claims, controversially, that Tesla created the flying saucer, and claims that this is humanity's greatest invention.
