Nurse Edith Cavell is a dramatic film that chronicles the life of Nurse Edith Cavell (Anna Neagle). The movie is based off of the true story of the life of Nurse Cavell. The movies begins as she is working in a small military hospital during World War I. She dutifully joined the army to help out her country and to help wounded soldiers heal from the German attacks. One day as Nurse Cavell is working, the son of one of her patients comes into the hospital with a desperate plea. He had escaped from a German prisoner-of-war camp. She takes pity on the poor man and helps him escape through Holland. This escape spurs her interest in helping other soldiers and she, along with a few local people begin an underground organization that helps soldiers from Belgium, France, and England escape from Germany.
