Movie Summary

Steven Soderbergh

Ocean's Eleven is a remake of the 1960 film of the same name about a heist pulled off by a group of cons. Danny Ocean, on his release from Easy Jersey State Prison, he heads to Los Angeles to meet up with old friend and former partner in crime Rusy Ryan, and presents his ides of robbing the Bellagio, The Mirage, and the MGM Grand casinos. They enlist the help of Reuben Tishkoff, whose familiarity with casino security and ability to finance the operation make him a desirable partner but also make him reluctant to get caught up in such a scheme. He acquiesces when he thinks of it as a way of getting back at rival Terry Benedict, owner of the casinos. They pick a date when the casino will have a lot of money to cover bets made on the night of a large boxing match, enlist the help of eight former colleagues, and begin an elaborate planning process that includes learning as much as possible about the security at the casinos and the habits of their staff members, and building a replica of the vault. In this phase they find out that Ocean's ex-wife Tess, who he isn't over, is Benedict's girlfriend, throwing instability into his otherwise sound plan. Ocean and his team work at carrying out their alaborate and dangerous heist undetected, while Ocean is also concerned about how the plan might affect Tess.
