Oliver's Story is a romantic drama from 1978 starring Ryan O'Neal and Candice Bergen. The film is a sequel to a novel written by Erich Segal called Love Story. The movie centers around Oliver Barrett IV (Ryan O'Neal), a man who struggles in overcoming the death of his wife Jenny. He buries his sadness in his work, and as such, works an overwhelming amount of hours at his law office. Things become even more uncomfortable at the office when he butts heads with the head lawyers whose political views are totally opposite from his. Oliver progressively becomes lost in a dark world of sadness, and begins to lose any semblance of a normal life. He shuts himself off from the world and loses most of his friends. However, one day, Oliver miraculously meets a beautiful woman named Marcie Bonwit (Candice Bergen). Oliver eventually falls for Marcie, despite his deep-rooted love for his previous wife. But will Marcie ever replace his previous wife? What ensues is a tumultuous and turbulent love affair between Oliver and Marcie as they try to find a healthy balance. Two thumbs up!moreless
