When he and the boys ride into a small western town, a local named Jen Larrabee (Gail Davis) mistakenly thinks he is an actual Texas Ranger and asks for his help; Jen owns a toll bridge that a gang of pushy thugs are trying to get her to sell. Not wanting to let anyone down or get taken advantage of, Gene agrees, and his investigation leads him to discover a valuable mineral deposit in the road, and that a local entreprenuer may be behind the whole thing.
