Once Upon a Time in China 2 is a 1992 Hong Kong martial arts film and the sequel to 1991’s acclaimed Once Upon a Time in China. Jet Li reprises his role as the Chinese folk hero Wong Fei-hung, a proud and honorable man who has earned a reputation for his affection for peace but his willingness to use his considerable martial arts skill to defend those in need. The sequel begins with Wong Fei-hung in a peaceful place following the violence of the first film. He’s traveling with his new friends from the first film—his disciple Leung Foon, and his girlfriend Siu-kwan. He’s traveling to a seminar in Canton where he plans to join in a discussion about the comparative benefits of Western and traditional Chinese medicine. What was supposed to be a peaceful trip about methods of healing turns into a violent exhibition of martial arts skill when a terrorist group called the White Lotus Society begins killing foreigners in an act of extreme nationalism. In Once Upon a Time in China 2, Wong Fei-hung is forced back into action to defend the lives of the innocents around him.moreless
