Opa! is a 2005 Greek film directed by Udayan Prasad. The storyline focuses on an archaeologist named Eric (Matthew Modine). As the movie opens, Eric arrives from Chicago on the beautiful Greek island of Patmos. It is here that he plans to continue his deceased father's quest for St. John's mythical cup near a dig run by his old archaeology professor Tierney (Richard Griffiths). Eric quickly finds himself becoming enchanted with the wonder and serenity of the island. He also begins a romance with the beautiful and strong-willed single mother Katerina Gambierakis (Agni Scott). Using his high-tech scanning equipment, Eric is eventually able to find St. John's cup. The only problem is that the cup is buried deep underneath a tavern owned by Katerina. In order to recover the cup, Katerina's business would have to be destroyed. Eric must discover the meaning of love and decide what is truly important in life.
