Origin - Spirits of the Past is originally released in Japan. It is an anime film produced by Gonzo. It premiered in Japan on January 7, 2006, and premiered in the United States on September 24, 2006 at the Fantastic Fest film festival in Austin, Texas. It is the story, which takes place in the future, of a boy named Agito. The world of the future changed. Some experiments with genetic engineering of trees for producing ability of growing in harsh conditions. The trees became conscious and tried to wipe out most of modern civilization. In the ruins of some old city Agito (voiced in the English adaptation by Christopher Patton)finds a girl named Toola (Carrie Savage), who was asleep for nearly 300 years. Together they try to revive the long-lost bond between forest and people. The writers of the script, Nana Shiina and Naoko Kakimoto, wanted to show that everything should be in harmony.
