Original Gangstas is an action crime drama from Po' Boy Productions and MGM/UA Home Enteraintment that was written by Aubrey Rattan, directed by Larry Cohen and produced by Fred Williamson. Marvin Bookman (Oscar Brown Jr.) is a local small shop owner in the city of Gary, Indiana. He witnesses the tragic drive by shooting of Laurie Thompson's (Pam Grier) son. He was executed by a local gang and in an effort to help bring his murderers to justice, Marvin gives the police the license plate number of the car. The gang is furious that Marvin came forward and takes action against him. Marvin becomes the second victim. His son and former NFL star John Bookman (Fred Williamson) comes back to town to set things right. Laurie and his long time friend Jake (Jim Brown) team up to take back their streets and show these new gang members who the original gangsters really are.
