OSS 117: Lost in Rio is a 2009 comedy that parodies the spy genre as made famous by the James Bond series of films. Secret Agent Hubert Bonisseur de La Bath, known by his code name OSS 117 (Jean Dujardin), is entertaining a Chinese Countess at a ski chalet in Switzerland when it comes under attack by Chinese assassins. From there, OSS 117 returns to headquarters and is given the assignment of delivering a large amount of cash to Professor Von Zimmel (Rudiger Vogler), a former Nazi living in South America. In exchange for the money, Von Zimmel has promised to provide a list of secret French Nazi sympathizers. OSS 117 departs to Rio de Janeiro where he is alternately attacked by the Chinese again, Von Zimmel's henchmen and even agents from the Mossad who want to spirit Von Zimmel back to Israel to face trial for war crimes. OSS 117: Lost in Rio is mad-cap farce about the spy genre, where no one is ever who they say they are, allegiances constantly shift and outcomes are never expected.moreless
