Our Town is a 2003 drama directed by James Naughton based on the play by Thornton Wilder. It is 1901 in the quiet, unassuming town of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire. The Stage Manager (Paul Newman) introduces the residents of the modest little town. George Gibbs (Ben Fox) is a talented young athlete who is friends with smart, intellectual Rebecca Webb (Maggie Lacey). Three years later, the two have graduated high school and decided to marry each other. Although they both had chances to go on to bigger things, they decided that Grover's Corners and their romance mattered to them more. Their mothers, Mrs. Webb (Jane Curtin) and Mrs. Gibbs (Jayne Atkinson), worry that their children are too young to marry each other. Another nine years pass, and in the year 1913, little tragedies have struck the small town. As some of the spirits of the deceased look back at their friends and neighbors, wishing for more time on the planet, they feel a strong attachment to the humble but warm New Hampshire town they used to call home.moreless
