Out California Way is a 1946 western B-movie produced by Republic Pictures in which Monte Hale plays a young man of the same name trying to break into the Hollywood film scene to pursue his dream as an actor in western movies. Along the way, he meets the brother and sister pair, Danny McCoy (Robert Blake) and Gloria McCoy (Lorna Gray). While Monte is trying to get a job for himself, young Danny is trying to get his horse, Pardner, a job in movies. Monte and Pardner manage to get a casting director's attention who casts them in a singing cowboy movie. During all this, Monte and Gloria fall for each other. However, western star George Sheridan (Nolan Leary) is jealous of Monte's success and wants to end his career before it begins. It all comes to head in the climactic showdown between Monte and George. During the movie, Republic Pictures regulars Roy Rogers and Dale Evans appear as themselves and sing a song, while Donald Barry and Allan Lane also have cameos.moreless
