Outing Riley is a quirky comedic tale about the trials and tribulations an Irish Catholic gay man endures when he decides to come out to his three brothers. Bobby Riley (Pete Jones) is your typical beer drinking, Cubs loving, successful, Irish Catholic from Chicago in his 30s, except for the fact that he's gay. Growing up in a family like his, full of the bravado and manly jokes that come with the territory, he has kept his sexuality a secret to everyone except his sister Maggie (Julie R. Pearl). But with his boyfriend Andy's (Michael McDonald) pleading, and the death of his father, Bobby decides the time has come to break the news to the other three men in this very traditional household. Although they all have their own problems, from Luke's (Nathan Fillion) pot habit, to Connor's (Stoney Westmoreland) problems with Internet porn, Bobby is riddled with fear and anxiety about just how his macho siblings will take the news, especially Jack (Dev Kennedy), a Catholic priest. When the time comes to out himself, while the buildup to the breaking news is a story in itself, the revelation proves to be unexpected from all sides, and this group of boys and girl learn just what it means to be a family. Jones also writes and directs this light hearted take on a controversial issue.moreless
