Outlander is a science fiction action film directed by Howard McCain that centers on the brutal battle for survival in the year 709 A.D. in what is known as Norway today as the Viking warriors stumble upon the wreckage of a crash carrying two enemies, an alien soldier Kainen (James Caveizel) and the bloodthirsty Moorwen, a glowing creature that had decimated Kainen's race. While the Moorwen begins its rampage on the countryside, Kainen slowly begins a shaky alliance with the Vikings, led by King Rothgar (John Hurt) with his daughter Freya (Sophia Myles) and warrior Wulfric (Jack Huston), in order to take down the monster. As the Moorwen's destruction pushes Viking enemies to become partners, Kainen utilizes his technology with the skills of that of the warriors in order to try to create a weapon strong enough to destroy the Moorwen before it spawns and destroys everything in its path.

In its second half, Outlander falls apart completely, becoming nothing but a violent, mindless monster movie along the lines of "Alien vs. Predator."
