Overboard is a romantic comedy film directed by Garry Marshall that centers on the hilarious about-play by carpenter and widower of four boys, Dean Proffitt (Kurt Russell), who gets his revenge on the snooty amnesiac debutante Joanna Stayton (Goldie Hawn), by convincing her she's his wife! Joanna's yacht is docked in the lackluster Elk Cove, her boredom leads her to annoy and torture anyone around her, including her immature and avoidant husband Grant (Edward Herrmann), her long-suffering servant Andrew (Roddy McDowall), and Dean, who was sent to build her a new closet. When she trips and falls into the cold water one night, Joanna wakes up with no memory but one big attitude. Dean decides to take her in, turning the catered to socialite into a tortured housewife. The only issue though Joanna slowly turns into a loving and capable wife and mother, which ruins Dean's whole ploy as he falls in love with her. What will happen though when Joanna's memories come back and Grant finally comes to claim her?moreless
