Overland Mail Robbery is a classic 1943 Republic western, an installment in the William "Wild Bill" Elliot series. The film begins with chaos. The founders of the Hartley-Goodrich stage-coach line are killed in a mysterious robbery. The townsfolk are unaware that the crooked Patterson family is responsible for the crimes. Under the direction of old Mrs. Patterson (Alice Fleming), they have been thwarting the Hartley's business, planning to buy it out. The stage-coach line falls to the control of a somewhat wimpy Easterner, Tom Hartley (Kirk Alyn), who is somewhat at sea when he suddenly finds himself in charge of the family business, and responsible for its defence. But Tom and his friends Judith Goodrich (Anne Jeffreys) and Gabby (George "Gabby" Hayes) are determined to keep and protect their stage line. Wild Bill Elliot (William "Wild Bill" Elliot) helps Tom to stand up to his antagonists and find a happy ending. The cast also includes Weldon Heyburn, Kirk Alyn, Roy Barcroft, Nancy Gay, Peter Michael and Bud Geary.moreless
