Overnight Sensation is a 2000 comedy directed by Glen Trotiner. In the film, Matthew Wells (Sean Dugan) is an aspiring screenwriter who is fed up with his dead-end job as a production assistant so he quits. With nothing but time on his hands, he reconnects with his old roommate, Rick Foster (Seth William Meier). Together, they conspire with agent, Abe Pollard (Mark Goddard), to plan a scheme that will increase interest in Matt's screenplay at the Sundance Film Festival. The men's plan plays out exactly how they wanted and before they know it there are several important people actively seeking Matthew's script. Although Matt was hopeful his plan would go well, he did not expect the reaction that he received. Now Matthew has an important decisions to make. Does he stay loyal to the people who helped him become successful, or will he dump them in hopes of joining forces with someone who has more powerful connections?
