Movie Summary

Party Monster is a 2003 comedy/drama examining the tumultuous life of New York party promoter Michael Alig. Based on the book Disco Bloodbath by James St. James, Party Monster begins with Alig (played by Macaulay Culkin) moving to New York from a small town. Soon, with the help of James St. James (Seth Green), Alig is swept up in the intoxicating world of the 1980s party scene. Peter Gatien (Dylan McDermott) a club owner and mentor to Alig, heads up the Limelight, which becomes the trendiest hot spot in New York City after Alig hosts a party there. Joining Alig and St. James are Angel Melendez (Wilson Cruz), Gitsie (Chloe Sevigny), and Brooke (Natasha Lyonne), fellow club kids who love nothing more than partying. The sex, drugs, and rock n' roll lifestyle quickly catches up with the young friends, and through a series of tragic events everything changes for them. Party Monster was written and directed by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato.moreless
