Pastime follows the story of Roy Dean (William Russ), a 41-year-old pitcher in the minor league. William Russ gives a truly inspirational portrayal of Dean, who has reached the twilight of his career without ever really getting to realize his dream of being a major-league pitcher. Roy Dean's enthusiasm for the sport continues to shine bright even in the often grimy and exhausting world of minor-league ball. Mocked by his teammates, he nevertheless attracts the attention of rookie Tyrone Debray (Glenn Plummer). Brand new to the sport, not only does Tyrone share Roy's enthusiasm, but he's also gifted with natural pitching talent. Roy immediately identifies Tyrone as a person that he can share his wealth of knowledge with and begins to groom Tyrone for the majors. The friendship that develops crosses racial, economic and age boundaries as the two men inspire each other to overcome their challenges in this heartwarming and family friendly film.
