Patrick is a 1978 Australian science-fiction thriller directed by Richard Franklin. In this film, Patrick (Robert Thompson) is a young comatose patient who has been in a private hospital for the past three years. His mother and her lover were murdered three years ago and this psychological trauma led to Patrick's comatose. No one has any hope that he will ever recover from his coma, but he is being kept alive so Dr. Roget (Robert Helpmann), a physician at the facility, can use him for his personal scientific research. When a pretty young nurse, Kathy Jacquard (Susan Penhaligon), takes over as Patrick's private nurse she thinks she has an easy job, but she notices something strange about her comatose patient. Despite doctor's reassurance that Patrick is completely unable to communicate she senses that he is capable of more than others think. Is Kathy just being paranoid, or is there more to her patient than she knows?
