Paul Blart: Mall Cop is the movie about mild-mannered, overweight New Jersey mall security guard Paul Blart (Kevin James), who patrols on his Segway and has a crush on wig kiosk owner Amy (Jayma Mays). When Black Friday comes, a gang of hijackers disguised as Santa's Little Helpers takes over the mall, while Blart is distracted playing Rock Band. The hijackers take Amy and her colleagues hostage, planning to use credit card codes to steal $30 million and fly to the Cayman Islands. Blart calls the police and they instruct him to leave and let them take over, but he returns when he realizes love interest Amy is one of the hostages. Find out if the courageous mall cop can save the day and get the girl in Paul Blart: Mall Cop.

Metacritic Score

  • 50

    Los Angeles Times

Underneath all the cartoonish mall mayhem and silly slapstick lies a comedy that aspires to be the sort of gentle crowd-pleaser John Hughes used to make.

  • 40

The New York Times Nathan Lee

A tossed-off comedy from Adam Sandler's production company that makes one long for the comparative genius of "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry."

  • 40

    Variety Brian Lowry

An almost shockingly amateurish one-note-joke comedy.
