Paul Mooney: Analyzing White America is the first of the stand up comedy shows produced by controversial comedian Paul Mooney. The show stars Mooney in a series of routines covering topics related to race in modern-day America. Between each set there are cut scenes filmed in a sitcom-like style and featuring stereotyped characters such as "White Guy" (Joe Inscoe) or "Trailer Park Mama" (Bridget Gethins) continuing the theme of the show. Katie Fleckenstein also appears in these scenes as a teenaged girl. The full comedy set covers a range of themes from the very serious (September 11th, the N-word, interracial marriage) to the more frivolous (Jerry Springer, white people's alleged obsession with wild animals). Analyzing White America is fairly representative of Mooney's larger body of work in which he often focuses his cutting humor on race issues to poke fun at hidden tensions and prejudices between black and white Americans.
