Pearl Diver is a 2004 drama about two sisters struggling to come to terms with their mother's murder and a tragic farming accident that leaves one of their daughters clinging for life. Twenty years ago, Hannah (Joey Hansa) and Marian (Amy Jean Johnson) lost their mother under mysterious circumstances. While Marian remained within the Mennonite farming community, married and gave birth to her daughter Rebecca (Maddie Abshire), Hannah moved to pursue a writing career in Chicago. Not only did Hannah move away physically but she mentally cut ties with her former way of life. When Rebecca is badly injured, Hanna returns home to comfort Marian and help take care of her niece. While attempting to reconnect, the ghosts of the past rear up and threaten to shatter Marian and Hannah's already tenuous relationship. Anger, resentment and unanswered questions about their mother's murder force the women to unlock the secrets of their troubled past.
