Pete's Dragon is a 1977 Disney family animated musical directed by Don Chaffey. In the film, Pete (Sean Marshall) is a 9-year-old orphan who is running away from his horrible adoptive parents, Hoagy (Red Buttons) and Lena Gogan (Shelly Winters). He is not alone on his mission, his best friend, Elliott (Charlie Callas), is with him. Elliot is unique because he is a friendly, cute, sometimes invisible dragon. The runaway adventure leads the duo to a small town in Maine. A gentle lighthouse keeper, Nora (Helen Reddy), takes pity on the two and takes them into her home. Nora and her father, Lampie (Mickey Rooney) feed and shelter Elliot and Pete and they began to form a common friendship. However, Elliot's new life does not stay perfect for long. A devious con man, Dr. Terminus (Jim Dale), and the Gogan's threaten to ruin the friends' new lifestyle. Who can Pete trust when he needs help?
