Phantom Planet is a 1961 science fiction film directed by William Marshall. In the film, astronaut Frank Chapman (Dean Frederick) is forced to make an emergency landing on an unknown planet after his spacecraft is struck by an invisible asteroid. Frank gets out of the spacecraft to check the damage and accidentally sucks in some of the planet's air. Due to the conditions of this strange planet's atmosphere, Frank immediately begins shrinking until he is only about six inches tall. He discovers that a group of tiny people live on this planet and meets their leader, Sesam (Francis X. Bushman). He learns that the planet is named Rheton and that the people have been under attack by the Solarites, a group of monsters. Frank must determine if he should help his new group of friends fight the Solarites or find a way to go home. He is persuaded to stay and help after he meets two very beautiful women, Zetha (Dolores Faith) and Liara (Coleen Gray). As the battle with the Solarites continues, Frank finds himself longing to find a way to restore himself back to normal size and go home.moreless
