On May 18th and 19th, 2006, Phil Lesh and Friends put on a two day concert at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco, CA. Phil Lesh plays the bass, for which he is internationally known, and is joined onstage by lead vocalists Joan Osborne and John Scofield, guitarist Larry Campbell, pianist Rob Barraco, drummer John Molo, and saxophonist Greg Osby. The effect created by Phil and Friends is a blend of jazz, blues, soul and rock. They perform a number of fan-pleasing numbers including All Along the Watchtower, New Speedway Boogie, Unbroken Chain and others. They also have good old fashioned jam sessions in which they play in a free improvisational style. Lesh, Scofield and Osby also discuss the art of improvisation, their personal styles and the things that motivate and inspire them.
