Director:
Daniel Barnz
Released:
2008
Rating:
PG-13
Phoebe In Wonderland follows the childhood of Phoebe Lichten (Elle Fanning), a young girl who is searching for purpose and meaning in her life. She does not have the personality that would allow her to conform to all of the rules and regulations that are imposed on herself and her classmates. Her parents suspect that she is suffering from depression and obsessive compulsive disorder and have her see several doctors and therapists to no avail. It is not until Phoebe's drama teacher Miss Dodger (Patricia Clarkson) takes an interest in the girl, that she begins to have someone who she can open up to. Miss Dodger is passionate about her job as a teacher and does everything she can to help Phoebe. Her support seems to really begin to make a change in the young girl's life. Other characters include Peter Lichten (Bill Pullman), Principal Davis (Campbell Scott), and Miss Reiter (Madhur Jaffrey).
