Pillow Talk is a romantic comedy directed by Michael Gordon and released in 1959. Beautiful Jan Morrow (Doris Day) is less than enthusiastic about sharing a party telephone line with her neighbor, the mischievous composer Brad Allen (Rock Hudson). When he sees her in person for the first time, Brad is enchanted by her beauty. However, he knows that she dislikes him, so he decides to have some fun at Jan's expense. Late one evening, Brad telephones Jan, disguising his voice and introducing himself as "Rex Stetson." Intrigued, Jan falls for the bait and indulges in some risqu'' conversations with her new suitor. Before long, his ruse fails and Jan discovers who "Rex" really is. Now Brad must find some way to get on her good side, or risk losing his gorgeous conquest forever. Pillow Talk was the first film to feature Rock Hudson alongside Doris Day. The script used in the film was the fourth version written; Hudson rejected the first three scripts because he felt that they were too bawdy and might damage his career.moreless
