Plain Clothes is a quirky 1988 comedy written by Scott Frank and Dan Vining. The film follows the Dunbar brothers: undercover policeman Nick (Arliss Howard) and high school student Matt (Loren Dean). When Matt is accused of killing Mr. Bradwood (Mack Harrell), his high school teacher, Nick goes undercover to find the killer and free his brother. Ed (Seymour Cassel), Nick's partner, poses as Nick's father and enrolls him in high school. Nick immerses himself in student live by fighting bullies and falling in love with his teacher, Robin Torrence (Suzy Amis). At the same time, he is hot on the trail of the killer. The film comes to an exciting conclusion at the Pagan May Fest when Nick faces Chet Butler (George Wendt), the leader of the real-estate scammers, in a showdown. In a series of twists and turns, Nick must use his quick thinking to catch the killer and survive.
