Play Dirt is a 1969 U.K war movie directed by Andr'' De Toth. Capt. Douglas (Michael Caine) is a British oil executive working in North Africa during World War Two. When the war starts he receives a commission and begins coordinating oil supplies for the British 8th army. His relatively safe administrative life is thrown into disarray when he is forced to command a dangerous mission deep behind enemy lines. The fact that he is both untrained and inexperienced as a soldier is not lost on Capt. Douglas, but strangely ignored by his superior. A British officer is needed for a dangerous mission, and one specializing in pipe-line management might just be expendable. Capt. Douglas and the group of commandos disguise themselves as Italian soldiers and make their way across the North African desert to attack a key Axis oil depot. Along the way Capt. Douglas must use all of his wit to survive the harsh desert, battles with the enemy and an outrageous act of treachery.moreless
