2008
Rating:
PG-13
Play The Game focuses on two men, David (Paul Campbell) and Joe (Andy Griffith). David sells cars and attempts to give romance advice to Joe, his grandfather, who lives in a retirement home. Joe misses his wife and David is trying to get his interest back in life in the only way he knows how. Meanwhile, David attracts one woman after another, but cannot find the lifelong companion he seeks. Perhaps Joe, with his long and happy marriage can help? Or perhaps they both need to be themselves. But David meets a woman, Julie (Maria Sokoloff) while playing football, and tries Joe's advice to keep her. She seems, however, to be playing hard to get, reacting in manners he does not predict. Meanwhile, Joe uses David's techniques to rue Edna (Liz Sheridan) and Rose (Doris Roberts). Will either of them find success? This romantic comedy tackles surprisingly deep themes of generation differences and the search for love.
