Play Time is a 1967 classic French film by director Jacques Tati. The story follows two strangers, who in the course of one day, run into each other six times. The first character, Barbara (Barbara Dennek), is an American tourist traveling with a group of older women in the city of Paris. They are excited to see all the notable sights in Paris. The second character is named Monsieur Hulot (Jacques Tati), and he is a lost and confused Frenchman, also discovering the city of Paris for the first time in his life. The six scenarios in which these two strangers repeatedly run into each other are the following: in the airport, an office building, a trade exhibition, an apartment building, a royal garden, and in traffic. Tati illustrates the city of Paris as a city set in the future, one where modern architecture thrives, but life does not. Will these two lost souls break the silence they are conformed to in Paris?moreless
