Pola X is a 1999 French Film starring Guillaume Depardieu as Pierre, a handsome young man and a successful author. Pierre's life is an easy one. He lives with his beautiful mother in a grand castle in Normandy. His life is rich and carefree, and he's engaged to a beautiful blond girl named Lucie. His innocence has served him well so far in his life, but all that changes when he encounters a gorgeous, dark-haired woman in the woods who claims to be his half-sister. Pierre is shocked at the discovery. In an attempt to right the wrongs committed by his father by abandoning Isabelle, he leaves his privileged life and enters a life of destitution and illicit sex. Pierre's journey of self-discovery leads him to dangerous places in a world of depravity he never knew existed. This striking and occasionally surreal film is directed by Leos Carax and co-stars Yekaterina Golubeva as Isabelle and Catherine Deneuve as Marie. Pola X is a shocking tale of forbidden lust, based on the novel Pierre: or, the Ambiguities by Herman Melville.
