Polanski Unauthorized is 2009 movie about controversial, Academy Award winning director Roman Polanski. The film covers Polanski's (Damien Chopra) roots as a child growing up in war-torn Poland, the murder of his pregnant wife Sharon Tate (Brienne De Beau) and the circumstances surrounding the 1977 statutory rape case involving a 13-year-old girl (Leah Grimmson). The film hints that the many tragic occurrences in Polanski's life may have played a role in his hardened, unapologetic character. The movie provides an honest, albeit emotional depiction of the director. Polanski's troubled childhood includes losing family members during the Holocaust and watching many unspeakable horrors during this turbulent period. Polanski survived it all only to have tragedy strike again at the hands of members of the Charles Manson family. Although Polanski was able to rebound as a successful director, his career was again marred by an event that forced him to flee the U.S. for decades only to be extradited in 2008.
