Possums is a dramatic comedy directed by J. Max Burnett. Nowata, a small town in Oklahoma, is home to the worst high school football team in the state. A fan of the Possums his entire life, Will Clark (Mac Davis) is horrified when the mayor, Charlie Lawton (Andrew Prine), decides to disband the team. Will is reluctant to accept the decision, and as the radio announcer for the Possums' games, he takes matters into his own hands. Will continues to broadcast their games but begins to make up the team's plays and achievements. Through Clark's fictional accounts, the Possums become very successful, winning a string of amazing matches and becoming contenders for the state football championship. The town of Pratville, home of the real state champion football team, is not happy about the publicity the Possums receive. They challenge them to a match, and the two teams must face one another, placing the hopes and dreams of the citizens of Nowata in jeopardy.moreless
