2009
Rating:
PG-13

Post Grad is a 2009 comedy that shows how a young woman goes from college life to becoming an adult, even when life turns out differently then she hoped. Rayden Malby (Alexis Bledel) has planned her whole life out including where to go to college, where to get a job and what type of guy to marry. Most important to her is to get out of her childhood town and away from her eccentric family. When her college rival, Jessica Bard (Catherine Reitman), steals her dream job, Rayden is left with no choice but to move back in with her mom (Jane Lynch), dad (Michael Keaton) and her nutty Grandma Maureen (Carol Burnett). Rayden enlists the help of her childhood friend Adam Davies (Zach Gilford) to help her find another job as soon as possible. Rayden slowly comes to terms with what really is important in life and decides that it may be time to create a new plan.

Metacritic Score

  • 50

The New York Times Jeannette Catsoulis

Ms. Bledel works her "Gilmore Girls" charm to the hilt, but no amount of cerulean-eyed sparkle can transcend this level of thudding mediocrity.

  • 40

    Variety

As fiction characters go, Ryden seems as dull as they come, making it hard to muster much sympathy for her plight.

  • 30

    Los Angeles Times

A joyless fluffball about after-college job woes with a dispiriting message for smart young women.
