Pot o' Gold is a 1941 musical drama directed by George Marshall. In the film, Jimmy Haskell (James Stewart) is forced to close his music shop due to poor business. With no other options, Jimmy must work for his uncle, C.J. Haskell (Charles Winninger), who owns a health food business. Next door to the uncle's business is Mrs. McCorkle's boarding house, where a group of band members are currently staying. C.J. hates the band because they play their music all day long and it drives him crazy. He has even called the police on them several times for being too loud. Jimmy of course loves music and quickly befriends the band leader Horace Heidst and owner of the boarding home Molly McCorkle (Paulette Goddard). C.J. also runs a local radio program called The Haskell Happy Hour and asks Jimmy to take it over while he is on vacation. Jimmy tries to transform the radio show and invites the band to come play. Things get way out of control and Jimmy must work hard to get things back in place before his uncle returns from vacation.moreless
