Projectionist is a 1971 classic of film making in which Rodney Dangerfield made his acting debut. In the film, Chuck (Chuck McCann) is a movie theater projectionist with a simple life and a meager job. He has no aspirations and nothing planned for his own future. His career seems to be going nowhere. Yet within his imagination he is a superhero akin to the figures in the movies that he watches all day long. The theater manager (Rodney Dangerfield) is a harsh boss who is nothing but disappointed in Chuck. In Chuck's fantasies, his boss becomes arch-villain The Bat. Chuck enlists the help of some great heroes of classic films, like Humphrey Bogart, Errol Flynn, and Gary Cooper to join him in his quests to rid the world of The Bat and establish freedom and justice for all. While Chuck's fantasy life remains active and alive, those around him wonder if his dreams will ever become reality.
