Prom Queen is a dramatic comedy film directed by John L'Ecuyer that centers on Marc Hall (Aaron Ashmore), a young high school senior in a Canadian town of Inniston who makes headlines when he decides to bring his boyfriend to his senior prom. With his sexuality a bit of a non-issue to his fellow classmates and his parents, Marc's decision to take his boyfriend, Jason (Mac Fyfe), to the prom however is not accepted by his Catholic school who claims it is against their teachings and policies. Supported by his friends, including Beau (Trevor Blumas) and Carly (Tamara Hope) and parents, Emily and Audy (Marie Tifo and Jean Pierre Bergeron), Marc takes on the school board in a battle for his right to enjoy the prom as anyone else. Marc finds himself in the middle of a very public struggle of not only his rights but also the gay rights of teens and adults all over Canada.
