Psychotropica is a 2009 independent fantasy film directed by Damien Sage. The film focuses on a deranged character, known only as "The Patient" (Damien Sage), who travels back and forth in time, space and outright fantasy at the behest of "The Doctor" (Maximillian Magick). The Doctor, a sadistic scientist, has been administering a drug called Psychotropica to the patient in order to study his reactions. As the patient is forced further and further into his delusions, the landscape of the film fades into strange neon highways, green plasma mountains and flowing Technicolor clouds. Interspersed with these scenes are glances of lucidity where the patient relates details of the nightmares while exploring his sadistic relationships with his step brother and sister. The final act culminates in a violent but visually stunning climax where doctor and patient are revealed. Filmed in and around Raleigh, North Carolina, this independent film features music by the bands Aeryn S''in and RIP/TORN.
