Public Cowboy No. 1 is a Gene Autry collection classic that begins when a gang of rustlers start using refrigerated trucks, planes and short-wave radios to commit their crimes, forcing Deputy Sheriff Autry and his buddy Frog Millhouse (Smiley Burnette) to set out to catch the thieves using their Old West-style crime-fighting techniques. But they're scoffed at by a group of city detectives who consider their methods outdated. Now, Autry and Frog must apprehend the criminals to prove their tried-and-true tactics work.
