Pulp is a 1972 English film written and directed by Mike Hodges and starring Michael Caine, Mickey Rooney, Lionel Stander, and Lizabeth Scott. Michael King (Caine) is fiction writer who has produced a plethora of pulp novels. They are rarely challenging, but afford him a comfortable lifestyle and so Michael is content. Preston Gilbert is a reclusive Hollywood star who is living in Malta who is seeking help in writing his biography. Michael is approached by a member of Gilbert's entourage and asked to ghost write the book for an obscenely large sum of money. Michale agrees, and is quickly flown to the remote island where Gilbert lives. When Gilbert is murdered due to his ties with the mob, Michael must then figure out who was behind the killing. In his quest to understand, however, Michael must navigate through Gilbert's posse of eccentric friends and dangerous criminals. Pulp received moderate reviews from critics.
