Pure Country is a 1992 drama starring George Strait and Lesley Ann Warren in a story about a country music superstar who gets fed up with his own big-budget arena shows and tries to go back to his country music roots by banging around in bars, playing guitars, and falling in love. Real-life country chart-topper George Strait plays Dusty Chandler, a hugely successful musician. In the middle of a tour, something inside Dusty snaps and he can no longer handle the lights, effects, and elaborate set design of his arena concerts. He feels he has strayed too far from pure country music. In an attempt to find himself, Dusty goes AWOL, heading back to his hometown and cutting his hair to avoid recognition. He assumes the name Wyatt and spends some time just living to remind himself where he comes from. Meanwhile, his manager, Lula (Lesley Ann Warren), is trying to keep his career from crashing and burning in his absence, as Dusty falls in love with a woman named Harley (Isabel Glasser) who has no idea who he really is. Pure Country is a riveting story full of great music about a country superstar trying to hold on to his small town roots on the big stage.moreless
