Purgatory Flats is a 2003 thriller from Belgian writer and director Harris Done. The film follows Thomas Reed (Vincent Ventresca), a former doctor who has just completed his five-year prison term for killing his wife in a drunk driving accident. Still feeling penitent for his crime, he decides to move to the small Californian desert town of Purgatory Flats, where he finds work as a bartender and is known affectionately by the locals as "Doc." When local man Owen Mecklin (Kevin Alejandro) comes to him with a gunshot wound, Thomas's quick actions save the man's life and catch the eye of his beautiful wife Sunny (Alexandra Holden). Thomas is intrigued when he learns that the two are part of a local drug gang, and his entrance into a life of crime is all but sealed when he finds a mutual attraction with Sunny. As the two pursue their illicit romance, their thoughts soon turn to ways of getting rid of her pesky husband.moreless
