Purple Rain is a 1984 musical film that has become a cult classic. The film was directed by Albert Magnoli (Dark Planet, American Anthem). The film takes place in Minneapolis and follows the troubled life of "The Kid" (Prince ' The Musician). Prince plays the role of a stuggling musician that is the lead vocalist and writer for a local band. Prince's character comes from a more than difficult home life with an abusive father (Clarence Williams II). After meeting and falling in love with a beautiful singer named Apollonia (Apollonia Kotero), Prince's character must now desperately try to and not repeat the pattern of his abusive father. It is this messy relationship that also puts his band at risk and he is now fighting for the love of a woman and his love of music. His band, The Revolution, has one main rivalry, Morris Day and the Time, who are trying to move in on Princes territory and become the most popular band in the area.moreless
