Queen Bee is a 1955 drama directed by Ranald MacDougall. Young Jennifer Stewart (Lucy Marlow) is excited to visit her beautiful, successful cousin in Georgia. When she arrives, however, it quickly becomes apparent that all is not well. Powerful and charismatic, Eva (Joan Crawford) is not an easy woman to love, as her nickname, "Queen Bee," makes clear. Her own husband, Avery (Barry Sullivan), the source of her wealth, no longer cares for Eva and loses himself in constant alcoholism. Eva is an unfaithful and cruel wife, never stopping to consider anything but her own desires. As Jennifer watches, Avery's sister, Carol (Betsey Palmer), unwittingly puts herself in danger. Carol believes that she is going to marry handsome Judson (John Ireland), but Eva knows better. Judson is actually Eva's lover, and the Queen Bee will do anything to keep her place as the most powerful woman in her social circle. Jennifer watches the tragedy unfold, but still cannot stop herself from also developing romantic feelings for Judson, resulting in Eva's fatal ire.moreless
