Quicksilver is a 1986 drama starring Kevin Bacon in a story about one man who takes a step backward in his professional career, and from his reduced position he achieves some clarity about what matters most in life. Jack Casey (Bacon) is a well-educated and young floor trader who has already made a small fortune playing the stock market. He makes a cocky, all-or-nothing decision one day that stops his career in its tracks, forcing him to leave the exchange and look for more reliable work. He finds a job as a bicycle messenger, much to the dismay of his parents and girlfriend. While his new job may be significantly less glamorous and way less profitable, his crew of colorful co-workers help him see his life from a new perspective. The enterprising young man also learns how to use his considerable business sense to his advantage as a messenger. From his new position he learns about what really matters in his life. He meets a confused young woman, Terri (Jami Gertz) and starts a new relationship with her. Quicksilver is a gripping film, written and directed by Thomas Michael Donnelly.
