Raiders of the Seven Seas is a 1953 adventure film directed by Sidney Salkow. After being condemned to death by the Sultan of Morocco for flirting with a member of the royal harem, the famous pirate Barbarossa (John Payne) flees to evade capture. He then commandeers a Spanish slave ship and convinces the freed slaves to become his loyal new pirate crew. He heads towards Tortuga, where the slaves were originally going to be purchased by the island's governor. Pretending he is there to sell the slaves, Barbarossa takes captive the governor's daughter, Countess Alida (Donna Reed). He plans to extort ransom money from Alida's fiance, Captain Jose Salcedo (Gerald Mohr). But as the pirate finds himself falling in love with beautiful Alida, he hatches a new plan to steal her heart away from her dishonorable fiance.
