Raise The Titanic is a 1980 adventure film starring Jason Robard, Richard Jordan, and Alec Guinness and based on the novel of the same name by popular author Clive Cussler. The film follows a group of American mariners who travel to the middle of the North Atlantic to attempt the unthinkable-raising the sunken wreckage of the RMS Titanic from the ocean floor. This massive, coordinated effort is justified not for scientific purposes, but military ones. The United States armed forces believe there's a rare mineral stashed somewhere in the Titanic that could be used to construct a powerful anti-missile defensive weapon that would neutralize the threat of a Soviet missile attack. The salvage mission is a race, as the Soviet Union claims the mineral belongs to them. As the small team of salvage experts work to dig up the past, they deal with the political pressures of the mission, as well as personal drama between them. Raise The Titanic is a big budget spectacle, featuring an acclaimed score from composer John Barry.moreless
