Rambo: First Blood Part 2 starts off with Rambo being visited by his former superior Colonel Samuel Troutman. Colonel Samuel Troutman offers to release him from prison if he goes on a mission to get information on POWs still in Vietnam. His mission is to just get information on the POWs by taking pictures and not to rescue the POWs. Rambo reluctantly agrees and goes to Vietnam. While in Vietnam, he is determined to rescue the POWs anyway even though that is not his mission. He teams up with female freedom fighter Co Boa to release the POWs who are being held by Vietnamese Captain Vinh and Russian ally Lieutenant Colonel Padovsky. He makes plans to kill his enemies, but then there is a twist and he learns something about the mission. Now Rambo has to deal with not only rescuing the POWs but dealing with the new problem he faces.
